April 16 discussion: “Do the right thing! Once you figure out what it is.”

Scholars Gild Discussion – “Do the right thing! Once you figure out what it is.”

Tuesday evening, April 16 at 7:30 (Lower Gild Hall)

When you have choices, what should you do? Simply do the right thing! But how do you choose what is the right thing?

Some people say the climate is changing faster than at any time in the last 10,000 years. Other say we are seeing natural cycles in the climate. Who is correct? Does it even matter?

This month’s discussion will look at how to choose the right path for action to address climate change and other important and not so important decisions. We will look at “tradeoff” analysis by asking the question of what are the possible outcomes and consequences. By using consequences, we can look at a difficult problem, such as global climate change, and focus on the important part of the issue. Can this same approach be used to evaluate heath care, funding for infrastructure, and many other questions? The discuss will start with climate change. You will have to join us to find out if we discuss specific issues or the use of tradeoff analysis.

We will be in lower Gild Hall on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 PM, for this discussion. I know, it sounds kind of geeky, but this is the Scholars Gild after all.
