Georgist Gild- Raise the Minimum Wage?

Georgist Gild- celebrating 20 years (1994-2014)
Presentation and Discussion:
Raise The Minimum Wage?
on Tuesday, April 8, 7:30 p.m. BWVC
There’s been a lot of discussion about raising the minimum wage on the federal, state and local levels. Some states and localities have already taken action . Will raising the minimum wage help lift people out of poverty in the long term or is it a short term fix to a much deeper underlying economic problem?
21 states and the District of Columbia have a higher minimum wage than the Federal level. New Jersey approved an increase in the minimum wage in November 2013. SeaTac, a suburb of Seattle in Washington State voted to raise the min wage to $ 15.00
Is there any noticeable long term effect to the economies in the states that have higher minimum wage?
This will be one of the topics of our discussion.
Come and join our discussion on Tuesday evening, April 8th at 7:30 p.m. At the Buzz Ware Village Center

One of the best ways to help people understand the challenges we face, is with a movie that can grab an audience and move them to action. And this movie will do exactly that.

—  Robert Reich

A passionate argument on behalf of the middle class this film features:

Robert Reich-professor, best-selling author, and Clinton cabinet member as he demonstrates how the widening income gap has a devastating impact on the American economy.

Through his singular perspective, Reich explains how the massive consolidation of wealth by a precious few threatens the viability of the American workforce and the foundation of democracy itself.

In this INCONVENIENT TRUTH for the economy, Reich uses humor and a wide array of facts to explain how the issue of economic inequality affects each and every one of us.
