Soapbox Sessions Sponsored by The Arden Writer’s Gild

The Arden Writers’ Gild
And The Arden Club
Is Hosting “Soapbox Sessions”

The Arden Writers’ Gild is sponsoring “Soapbox Sessions”, a program that actually has a “soapbox” and encourages all forms of expression in a public and open environment. The 2nd and Charles Bookstore at 101 Geoffrey Drive, Newark, De. 19713 is providing a space and supports both The Arden Club and The Arden Writers’ Gild. We are meeting on the 3rd Saturday of each month between 12 noon and 3PM, a prime time for traffic in a large and busy business.

This “Soapbox Session” concept lends itself well to a variety of indoor and outdoor events such as The Arden Fair, Book Fairs and First Fridays. This is another opportunity to promote The Arden Club, to engage the Arden Community, to support our area art communities, and as a platform for civic expression. As always, we encourage Arden Residents to become involved and/or make suggestions for improving The Arden Writers’ Gild.

The Writers Gild Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the Month

AT 7 PM IN THE ARDEN MEMORIAL LIBRARY
The Arden Writers’ Gild, in conjunction with The Arden Club, gathers on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 P.M. for a two-hour mini-retreat. We meet in The Arden Gild Hall Library. Our casual and inclusive family is open to anyone looking to be inspired by the power of words. Our small group format encourages dialogue and sharing without criticism. We do not critique work; instead, we use our stories and poems (or stories and poems by authors we love) to launch discussions about life and our common humanity. You don’t have to be a writer to join our family, just be willing to listen respectfully and to respond in positive and affirming ways to those who choose to share. Hope to see you soon! Warm cookies are provided as an added incentive.
OUR STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Arden Poetry Gild strives to change and improve our community by exploring the gifts of literature and expressing ourselves through our own writings. We find both unity and diversity by sharing the knowledge, intelligence and humor of past and contemporary writers. Our Gild expands our ability to integrate the world of the written word into our lives and our community.
